The Whitney Houston Lifetime Movie Biopic: A Powerful Presentation of Whitney's Life and Career
By Kedrick Mahoney
The Whitney Houston biopic premiered yesterday, January 17, 2015, on Lifetime. Angela Bassett, who in previous weeks responded to the criticism received over developing the story, directed the movie. Actress and model, Yaya DaCosta, who gained famed as runner-up in Cycle 3 of America's Next Top Model, played the role of the late Whitney Houston alongside Arlen Escarpeta, who played the role of Bobby Brown. After viewing the film, it appears that the cast members were selected with perfection. Both DaCosta and Escarpeta did an excellent job at bringing the relationship between Whitney and Bobby to life on the movie screen.
There were multiple scenes throughout the movie where DaCosta lip-synced some of Whitney's greatest hits as Deborah Cox, a Canadian R&B singer-songwriter and actress, effortlessly delivered the singing vocals. The performance scenes were very moving with the ability to bring tears because the movie felt so real. It was like watching Whitney back on stage and in action. In order to give credit where it is due, Angela Bassett and the team she worked with definitely created a memorable masterpiece worthy of being shared continuously for years to come. The movie captured Whitney's experiences while filming The Bodyguard, the birth of Bobbi Kristina, drug abuse, the long stream of successes in her music career, and her relationship with Bobby Brown.
It was definitely heartfelt to see DaCosta and Escarpeta act out the high-profile relationship of Whitney and Bobby. The storyline went very deep as to reveal more of the personal and intimate experiences of Whitney and Bobby's relationship. There was never a doubt that the love shared between the two was very strong. Each of them possessed characteristics that worked in a manner to bring a great deal of happiness to the other. Over the years, their relationship was heavily ridiculed in the media. However, those on the outside looking in do not always understand the happiness that is sometimes shared between two people. At the end of the day, Whitney and Bobby appreciated what they found in each other, which allowed them to tie the knot at a beautiful wedding. Their marriage lasted for a total of fifteen years and ended in the year 2006. The reenactment of the wedding in the Lifetime movie is very touching and was delivered in a very elegant manner.
The final scene of the movie shows Yaya DaCosta delivering a powerful, unforgettable performance of the Whitney Houston hit "I Will Always Love You." It must be stated that Yaya DaCosta shined in this role and effectively delivered Whitney's style and stage presence. Without a doubt, Yaya nailed the role of Whitney Houston! We can definitely expect to see more of her on the big screen. Overall, the movie was great and did justice to the life and story of the late Whitney Houston, who sold over 200 million albums, singles and videos worldwide. Nevertheless, Whitney left us with a lasting impression. Her life and musical legacy is one that will never be forgotten.

Steps to a Writing an Effective Press Releases
Want to get the most media attention and spotlight for your business? Then the first place to start is with a GREAT press release. Now I can almost see half of you leaving now, dreading the thought of having to write one of these. But wait!! I’m going to show you easy methods to make your press release work for you and get the attention it deserves. Ready? Let’s go.
We’ll briefly go over the basics because of their importance. Editors want to see things done the RIGHT way. I would bet that a lot of good releases simply get tossed out just because they aren’t set up properly. To a busy editor, that all too familiar “10 second glance” says a lot for you and your business; it let’s them know if you’ve done your research enough to warrant that release to be placed in their newspaper or magazine.
Here are your essentials:
"FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE" on the top left of the page.
Your contact name, phone number, e-mail address, and website follows.
Headline is next, normally in bold and centered on the page. Summarize what the release is about and capture their attention. Spend almost as much time on your headline as you do writing the release. It’s that important.
The press release body starts with the location of the release and the date...

Eat your Veggies! Simple Cooking Methods
Vegetables add colour, taste, texture and bulk to our daily diet. There are dozens of different vegetables that can be prepared in literally hundreds of ways. So what's best?
There is no best. The thing to do is to eat your vegetables, lots of them, everyday in a wide variety of ways and stop worrying about the preparation methods. Variety is the key...
Raw
Many vegetables taste fabulous just the way they are straight out of the garden. Lettuce, tomato, celery, cabbage, onion, radish, carrot are obvious choices here. But they are just as likely to find themselves next to chopped up broccoli, cauliflower, peas, beans and zucchini on a starter platter with dips. Wash 'em, chop 'em and eat 'em. Oh, yeah, you could also make a salad!
Steamed
Steaming heats the vegetable and softens it's texture. It's gentler than boiling and allows the vegetable to maintain it's colour if not overdone. Use a stainless steel steamer that will fit into most good size sauce pans. Make sure you use a pan with a tight fitting lid. There should be enough water to just touch the bottom of the steamer. Water should be simmering the whole time the vegetables are being...

How SMS Works
SMS, or Short Message Service, is the technology behind what we often refer to as ‘text messages’ or ‘SMSes’, as well as what allows for news alerts on cellular phones. In recent years SMS has ballooned to over a 50 billion dollar industry and is quickly taking the communications world by storm.
Short Message Service actually refers to a framework that uniquely allows computers, or in this case phones, to communicate with each other without the need of a central hub. With SMS, phones can find each other, send short packets of information back and forth, and do it all without any central computer to guide them. But because the system does not rely upon fixed lines like a land based telephone system does, the amount of information that can be sent at one time is limited in size. This depends on the language spoken, but for English letters this typically means around 150 characters (Chinese and Japanese letters are limited to 70).
Quite recently, however, new developments in the technology have allowed for even longer messages to be sent. Long or Concatenated SMS is a development that allows multiple messages to be combined to form a single message. In effect, what happens is that your phone actually sends out a few smaller messages and then the receiving phone simply compiles those...

An Education in Saving on Textbooks
Every year students flock to the college bookstore to purchase the various textbooks that they require for their classes. Little do these students realize that, in doing so, they are throwing good money away. As unbelievable as it may seem textbooks, in some cases, actually cost as much, if not more, than tuition.
On the surface the college bookstore may seem like a convenient source for textbooks. Titles are usually in-stock and students may purchase new textbooks or opt for the cheaper alternative of used books. In truth the money saved by purchasing used textbooks from the college bookstore is only a fraction of the amount that students could be saving if they shopped online.
More and more online booksellers have begun selling textbooks at a considerable discount off of the cover price. In fact, many major booksellers now have special areas of their web sites that are devoted to selling nothing but textbooks. Online used bookstores are another source for college books as they stock a large number of textbooks, which means sizable...
